Shai Frumkin is an Award-Winning Actress and Writer based between Los Angeles and New York City. Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, she served two years in the Israel Defense Force. As a musician, she has been playing Flute and Piccolo in Europe, Israel, and the USA. She graduated from the Two Year Conservatory Program at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, NYC, where she was the Vincent D'Onofrio Scholarship award winner.
Her short film, Crush, which she co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in, went to the Hip Hop Film Festival (NYC), Festival De Cannes - Court Metrage (France), Chelsea Film Festival (NYC), The Collaborative Film Festival (LA), Picture's Up! Film Festival (LA), Canadian Screen Award Qualifying - Oakville Film Festival (Canada), Boulevard Film Festival (NYC), Lift-Off Sessions (UK), First-Time Filmmakers (UK), First Take Short Series (PA), and Strasberg Film Festival (NYC). For the latter, she won the award of Best Actress in a Leading Role. The film also won the awards of Best of Fest, Best Director, and Best Actor in a Leading Role. Her new film, Dream State, which she wrote, starred in, and co-produced, was recently an Official Selection to the Chelsea Film Festival (NYC), First-Time Filmmaker Session (UK), Lift-Off Sessions (UK), Hip Hop Film Festival (NYC), The Changing Minds Young Filmmakers Film Festival (NYC).
Besides writing and acting, Shai spends her time reading screenplays, painting, doing photography and pilates :)
